About The Position

This position is responsible for operating machinery and performing tasks related to the production of cores and compound materials. The role involves adhering to strict product criteria, safety precautions, and quality standards. The operator will use various equipment, including presses, heaters, sanders, ovens, CNC machines, and hand tools, to form and finish cores. Additionally, the role requires managing material blending, processing, and quality control for compound materials, including weighing, testing, and handling hazardous waste in accordance with company programs. The operator must maintain a clean work area, perform routine maintenance, and contribute to team productivity and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency
  • Three (3) months’ on-the-job training to fulfill introductory period
  • Six (6) months’ experience to be eligible for certified operator status
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions
  • Mental and visual attention
  • Perform to productivity and quality standards
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds consistently
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Correctly wand onto the shop floor data system for labor.
  • Read and follow appropriate product criteria, activity instructions, and elements.
  • Follow all safety precautions as spelled out in the Activity Instruction.
  • Use of appropriate equipment/tools (Press, Pill Heater, Belt Sander, Anneal Bake Oven, Ring Press, CNC Machines, Burr Gun, Ultra Max, Hand Tools).
  • Form and finish cores per Activity instruction and product criteria.
  • Load anneal bake setters per product criteria, if required.
  • Load and unload anneal bake oven, if required.
  • Understanding of loading and operation of CNC machines.
  • Responsible for visual and dimensional quality of green cores (gauge cores).
  • Visually inspect cores for unacceptable defects per the product criteria or activity instruction.
  • Correctly wand lot travelers and scrap after each tray and take cores to kiln truck.
  • Fill out OEE sheets.
  • Maintain clean work area and perform TPM per schedule.
  • Perform pre-shift die inspection and TPM checklist.
  • Observe safety policies and regulations.
  • Maintain high attendance record.
  • Basic understanding of the use of dial calipers, micrometers and pin gauges.
  • Understand use of the HCS ‘Help Chain”.
  • Maintain pacing via Aussie Pace System.
  • Perform Problem Solving with Leadership.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Leadership.
  • Operate auto batching system.
  • Blend material in Henschel.
  • Roll mill blended compound.
  • Crush roll milled compound.
  • Pill material.
  • Weigh and skid pills.
  • Fills auto batching hopper.
  • 5S Ownership.
  • Make setter material.
  • Make patch.
  • Make test bars and spiral flows of material.
  • Record individual pill weights.
  • Clean magnets in the crusher system.
  • Clean equipment and general area.
  • Handles hazardous materials/waste in accordance with Howmet’s Hazardous Waste Management Program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Ability to use electronic data collection systems.
