Cord Blood Donation Recruitment Specialist
About The Position
LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is hiring a Cord Blood Donation Recruitment Specialist in Jacksonville, Florida. The specialist educates expectant mothers and families at the bedside about cord blood donation and obtains informed consent according to regulatory and ethical standards. The role supports accurate and timely documentation, collection-process compliance, proper storage and shipment of collected cord blood units and supplies, and coordination of collection logistics before maternal discharge from the hospital. The position is primarily scheduled for first shift, 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, with flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays. It is full-time, with a starting salary range of $17.50 to $19.25 per hour. A criminal background check and drug screen are required upon a conditional offer of hire.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to interact with medical professionals at every level.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet and maintain LifeSouth driver eligibility requirements.
- Positive bedside manner, emotional intelligence, and excellent customer service skills.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree preferred.
- Preferred experience in patient consent, clinical research, hospital outreach, public health fieldwork, labor and delivery, hospitals, obstetrical offices, and/or health or patient education.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Responsibilities
- Educate expectant mothers and families at the bedside about cord blood donation and obtain informed consent in accordance with regulatory and ethical standards.
- Complete and submit documentation accurately and within required timelines, and follow up on missing information or specimens as needed.
- Review paperwork related to the collection process to ensure it is complete and accurate.
- Ensure collected cord blood units and supplies are stored and shipped properly.
- Track consents, tube orders, collections, and shipments to ensure timely completion before maternal discharge from the hospital.
