About The Position

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), a national not-for-profit association established in 1863 representing over 111,000 veterinarians, is seeking a Copy Editor to join its Publications division at its Headquarters office in Schaumburg, Illinois. The Copy Editor will report to the Associate Director (Managing Editor) and will be responsible for copy editing, formatting, and preparing manuscripts for the AVMA’s two scientific journals, JAVMA and AJVR, as well as other AVMA publications.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or a related field
Previous experience in an office environment
Excellent proofreading skills
Excellent written communication skills
Excellent verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Highly organized
Detail-oriented
Ability to meet multiple deadlines
Strong computer skills with commonly used computer applications, such as Microsoft Office
Experience with content management software
