About The Position

The General Services Coordinator position is for someone who enjoys employee management and challenges, and is passionate about mechanics. This role involves organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling the daily activities of the central workshop, including machining, welding, and heavy vehicle mechanics. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of approximately fifteen employees, overseeing payroll, overtime, training, onboarding, scheduling, and grievances. They will also ensure the maintenance of mobile equipment throughout the complex using the SAP system, manage the health and safety aspects of the workshop, coordinate work permits, conduct risk analyses with contractors, and resolve workshop issues by implementing effective action plans. The role also includes ensuring procedures are known, respected, and improved, commissioning new equipment and processes, managing the workshop budget, participating in planning meetings, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and acting as a resource person for any issues in the sector 24/7. The position may also involve replacing the Senior Coordinator ATC as needed.

Requirements

  • Possess a college diploma (DEC) in mechanics, electrical, industrial maintenance or an equivalent appropriate technique, or a bachelor's degree in engineering (industrial, mechanical, or electrical) or relevant experience that could substitute for a diploma.
  • Possess 3 to 5 years of experience in personnel management, ideally in a unionized environment.
  • Possess knowledge of the SAP computer system and skills in using various software related to logistics and production.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills, dynamism, and autonomy.
  • Prioritize health and safety daily: be an agent for promoting good health, safety, and environmental practices at work.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, coordinate, direct, and control the daily activities of the central workshop.
  • Be responsible for the general services workshop: Machining, Welding, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics.
  • Direct a workshop of about fifteen employees: Payroll, overtime, training, familiarization, scheduling, grievances including Mobile Equipment Mechanics, Welders, Machinists, Planners.
  • Ensure the maintenance of mobile equipment for the entire complex via the SAP computer system: Preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Be responsible for the Health and Safety aspect of the workshop: Rituals, Monthly Meetings, IGP Tours, Blitz, accident reports, Corrective Actions, FPA, follow-ups.
  • Ensure the coordination of work permits each month.
  • Perform risk analysis with contractors.
  • Resolve workshop problems by implementing effective action plans, contribute to achieving objectives.
  • Ensure procedures are known, respected, and improved.
  • Commission new equipment and new processes.
  • Manage the workshop budget, priorities, Environment.
  • Participate in planning meetings.
  • Work with various internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, maintenance and support staff, the union, etc.
  • Act as a resource person for any problems in the sector (7 days a week and 24 hours a day).
  • Replace Senior Coordinator ATC, as needed.
