About The Position

Under some supervision, performs work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. This role involves coordinating work activities of others within a work group, team, or external parties like contractors and vendors to resolve routine technical tasks and field work activities. The position requires performing varied assignments demonstrating technical knowledge and analytical techniques to solve problems or conduct analysis. Participation in the planning and organization of outage/project work activities is expected. The role involves making decisions and contributing to team decision-making and consensus building. Monitoring labor relations activities and developing rapport to ensure cooperation and productive working relationships with contractors is also a key aspect. Collaboration with others, both in supplying information and seeking assistance, is necessary. Providing training and guidance to lower-level employees is part of the role. A commitment to pursuing effective ways to protect and enhance the environment while providing reliable electricity at a competitive cost is essential. Availability for overtime, call-out overtime, and shift work is required. Extensive travel, expected to be over 50% of the time, is a significant component of this position. The physical demand level is sedentary, but the role requires effective communication both verbally and in writing, including listening to and identifying customer needs. Communication with team members, management, customers, contractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies is crucial. Knowledge of AEP's general terms and conditions and the ability to interpret and administer contracts are necessary. Applying problem-solving skills to resolve technical problems and initiate solution techniques is expected. A positive attitude and a desire to satisfy both internal and external customers are important. The position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and exposure to hazardous materials. Extended hours may be necessary to complete assigned tasks and meet project/outage requirements and schedules. Extensive travel is required, and possible relocation may be necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university or college or an associate's technical degree and 3 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction or maintenance of systems and/or equipment.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of AEP's general terms and conditions and the experience and ability to correctly interpret and administer contracts.
  • Must be available to work overtime, call out overtime and shift work, as required.
  • Travel requirements are expected > 50 % of the time
  • Extensive travel required and possible relocation.
