Requirements

  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly, professionally, and effectively to diverse audiences, including volunteers, community partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems (ANDAR or similar database software); MS PowerPoint, Internet browser software; MS Excel Spreadsheet software, and MS Word Processing software.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally; driving is an essential function of this role, including transporting materials, supplies, and supporting off-site events. UWM staff rent and drive a truck for large-scale volunteer projects, like Shine Bright.
  • English proficiency sufficient to communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Experience working in team environments and engaging volunteers or community members in a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven manner.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment, prioritize competing demands, and respond effectively to changing needs.
  • Ability to effectively present information and volunteer activities and programs and respond to questions from groups.
  • The ability to build and sustain relationships internally within the organization as well as externally in the community is an absolute must. Trust and partnership are of the utmost importance in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Manages fundraising activities with agency partners. This includes building relationships with key contacts at agencies, speaking at kick-off events, and supporting campaign special events.
  • Organizes corporate on-site volunteer projects for partner organizations, prospective partners, and the broader community to include UWM’s Good on the Go program.
  • Manages the inventory for volunteer engagement projects, prepares materials and presentations for each event, and oversees the impact reporting process.
  • Supervises volunteers on-site during UWM’s corporate and community events. This includes providing instruction, training, and ensuring volunteers are in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Plays a vital role in the coordination, planning, and implementation of community-wide events, including Shine Bright, Day of Caring, Holiday Helpers, National Volunteer Week, Martin Luther King Day, and other broad projects.
  • Serves as one of the two primary administrators managing the web-based volunteer platform to engage agencies, individuals, and partner organizations in UWM activities. This includes leading areas of individual and community training with agency and corporate partners.
  • Provides weekly reports to the Senior Team regarding the status of volunteer engagement activities.
  • Meets annual revenue goals for the nonprofit agency partner fundraising.
  • Maintains accurate records within the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system (ANDAR).
  • Collaborates across departments to enhance volunteer engagement efforts.
  • Leads internal volunteer engagement opportunities and supports the Volunteers United affinity group.
  • Represents United Way of the Midlands in public settings such as kickoffs, community engagement fairs, and volunteer and networking events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
