About The Position

The University of Ottawa football program is committed to fostering an inclusive, safe, respectful, and high-performance environment that supports the development and success of its student-athletes. The coordinator supports the football program in achieving its on-field performance objectives by providing technical coaching and support to student-athletes and the coaching staff. In addition, the incumbent contributes to the recruiting, administration, operations, and overall management of the football program. Position purpose: Under the direction of the Head Coach and in support of the coaching staff, provides technical coaching, mentorship, and program support to develop student‑athletes and contribute to the Varsity team program’s competitive performance. Supports recruitment, academic monitoring, and daily team operations to help ensure the program’s sustained success on and off the field.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary diploma or combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • 2 seasons coaching experience at the high school level or summer camp coaching experience.
  • Bilingualism: Proficiency in written and spoken English or French, with strong comprehension of both languages.
  • Experience with computer systems and video editing software such as Hudl & DV Sport.
  • Ability to inspire student-athletes, foster a positive team culture, and act as a professional role model both on and off the field.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills to build trust with recruits, collaborate with staff and understand individual athlete needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, coordinate multiple responsibilities and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to adapt to demanding seasonal schedules, including extended workdays, weekend commitments and travel.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the technical development and tactical execution of assigned unit groups according to the plan developed by the Head Coach to ensure student-athletes perform with accuracy.
  • Assist in designing and delivers position-specific drills and teaching methods aligned with competition systems to maximize student-athlete performance
  • Supports the evaluation of training and competition film by identifying strengths, deficiencies and performance trends in accordance with coaching priorities.
  • Provides actionable feedback, using video editing systems to correct techniques, grade outcomes and support continuous performance improvement.
  • Delivers comprehensive statistical breakdowns of opponents and "self-scout" data.
  • Identifies tendencies and performance patterns to inform game-planning and enhance competitive decision-making.
  • Supports the implementation of the program’s multi-year recruiting strategy by assisting with prospect identification, communication and coordination of campus visits.
  • Contributes to recruitment activities and collaborates with internal partners to support the successful onboarding of student athletes.
  • Supports the delivery of summer camps and community outreach initiatives that enhance program visibility and contribute to revenue generation.
  • Assists with logistics, promotions and coordination of student-athlete involvement to meet program fundraising objectives.
  • Coordinates schedules, logistics and information flow across the coaching staff and Integrated Support Team (IST) to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Prepares and distributes operational materials to optimize coaching staff readiness and program execution.
