If so, the role of Coordinator, Transport at the ASPCA’s new Recovery & Rehabilitation Center (R&R Center) in Pawling, NY might be right for you! Who We Are The R&R Center in Pawling, NY, is a unique program dedicated to providing integrated sheltering, behavioral, and medical care for canine victims of cruelty. The R&R Center team works closely with ASPCA teams in New York City to help animals rescued in partnership with the NYPD. What You’ll Do The Coordinator, Transport works with internal partners to arrange and carry-out transport of dogs in need of off-site medical services and of adoptable dogs to adoption events and placement partners. The successful candidate is a true collaborator, working closely with colleagues across the ASPCA, as well external partners at veterinary clinics, transfer organizations, and off-site adoptions venues. The individual in this role will also provide direct support for the adoptions program, assisting in match making and introducing dogs to potential adopters. When & Where You’ll Work: This is an in-person position located at the R&R Center in Pawling, NY Ability to drive up to 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, and extended travel away from home as needed. Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required What You’ll Get: Compensation Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demands or budgeted amount for the role. The target hiring range is for new hire offers only, and staff compensation may increase beyond the maximum hiring range based on performance over time. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. The expected hiring salary range for this role is set forth below and may be modified in the future. The target hiring range for this role is $27.41 - $28.85 hourly. Requirements

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required
Minimum of 2 years of program coordination experience strongly preferred
5 or more years driving experience required
Must provide a valid driver’s license upon hire and pass a motor vehicle history check demonstrating a safe driving history. As part of the driving requirements of this role, must also pass a Department of Transportation Medical Exam.
Ability and willingness to drive in variety of environments (urban and rural areas)
Fluent in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with shelter software systems or Salesforce a plus
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Able to regularly witness animals suffering medically and/or behaviorally
Comfortable with humane euthanasia in theory and in practice

Ability to work in a physically demanding environment that requires standing, walking, bending, squatting, and/or kneeling for extended periods of time
Work involves exposure to chemical and biological hazards such as medications, cleaning products, urine, feces, blood, and sharp objects
Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to disposable coveralls, respirators or face masks, and booties

Nice To Haves

Experience in animal transportation or veterinary/animal shelter services preferred
Fear Free® Shelter Program certification (approximately 5 hours) required or completed within 60 days of hire

Responsibilities

Safely and humanely transport dogs, some of which are medically and/or behaviorally compromised, to and from ASPCA facilities, veterinary partners, off-site adoption events, and potential adopter meetings
Coordinate all aspects of animal transport with sending and receiving partners, including lining up alternate drivers as needed
Train staff from other areas to assist with transports, including training on professional appearance, maintaining clean and safe vehicles, and safeguarding program assets and animals
Support all aspects of animal transport including, but not limited to: partner relations and quality assurance, animal readiness, proper transport, fleet oversight and maintenance, appropriate animal handling, transport schedule, routes, emergency preparedness, etc.
Support development of efficient tools to track and verify all aspects of safe and humane transport operations, fleet/vehicle maintenance and driver training and retention
Participate in daily cross-shelter rounds, anticipating pending transports and collaborating with R&R colleagues to monitor capacity to accept incoming dogs
Collaborate with the veterinary team daily to ensure timely transfer of dogs in need of emergency and specialty veterinarian care
Work closely with supervisors of back-up drivers to ensure appropriate level of competent, engaged back-up transport assistance is available
Oversee and track proper maintenance of program vehicles, ensuring all fleet maintenance, cleaning and inspections are current and properly logged
Maintains inventory of supplies to ensure the viability of daily transports
Serve as main contact person for management of transport, inventory, vehicle maintenance, and asset logistics
Participate in ASPCA Fleet and driver development opportunities
Attend and participate in organization-wide workgroups and committees related to animal transport and vehicle requisition/disposition and maintenance
Participates in required trainings and actively pursues professional development
Maintain open lines of communication with the Adoption Center in NYC, arranging transfer and/or exchange of animals based on the greatest potential for successful and expedient placement
Provide back-up support for adoptions, working directly with adopters to ensure high quality placements, creating a positive experience for dogs and potential adopters, eliminating ineffective barriers to adoption, as needed
Provide back-up support for the Care & Enrichment Team, assisting in daily animal care tasks as the need arises and time allows
Provide support in the collection and management of animal health and behavior data
Assist as requested in behavior treatments and evaluations as a “novel person”
Maintain handling skills and develop strong collaborative relationships with colleagues by participating in playgroup, behavior treatment, loading dogs for transport, veterinary exams, and humane euthanasia as needed and when appropriate
Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Director, Operations
Attend and meaningfully contribute to all relevant R&R Center and ASPCA meetings
Assume financial accountability for an ASPCA credit card and work-related expenses
Maintain all receipts and prepare monthly expense reports
Understand and follow all ASPCA expense and travel policies
Accurately track and report time worked, time off, and work-related expenses
Responsibly steward R&R Center assets
