About The Position

The Transport Coordinator is integral in helping to transport animals between Fulton County Animal Services for placement needs and medical care, etc., as well as helping to transport pets of families with no transportation back to their homes.

  • Comfortable working with dogs and cats of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and handle challenging situations with calmness and professionalism.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments to ensure efficient shelter operations.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and remain composed under pressure.
  • Ability to handle seeing and dealing with animals that have been abused, neglected or treated cruelly.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on shelter needs.
  • Must have a means of travel that ensures prompt arrival for work shifts.
  • Must pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and experience with database systems is a plus.
  • College degree or relevant coursework preferred.
  • One or more years’ experience in animal related field or animal sheltering preferred.
  • Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or a similar role is highly desirable.
  • Fear Free Sheltering preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service and communications to clients, coworkers, fosters, and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with other shelter staff to address any issues or concerns that arise.
  • Operate with a judgement-free mindset when greeting and working with visitors.
  • Support and engage the volunteers who aid the placement teams.
  • Attend staff training classes as assigned to make sure you are well trained in handling animals for transport.
  • Maintain proper records and maintenance on all vehicles belonging to the LifeLine fleet. This includes insurance cards, tire health, oil changes, etc.
  • Assist when needed with events, especially pertaining to transporting supplies, animals, assist in the area as assigned.
  • Assist with transports of animals needing spay/neuter services at our Spay/Neuter Clinic. Responsible for ensuring the appropriate paperwork accompanies these animals to the clinic.
  • Advance LifeLine’s Transport animals to rescue groups and partners as assigned. These may be same day trips or out of State trips.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading animals and cargo. If help is available it can be utilized but should not be expected. Fractious animals may require help in some instances.
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicles in a timely manner.
  • Be the point person for donation pickups offered by the public and businesses.
  • Maintain a general understanding of all shelter operations, including animal care, adoption policies, volunteer opportunities, foster programs and any other operational processes that help support LifeLine’s mission to save lives.
  • Stay informed about current animals in the shelter, including their needs, personalities, and status.
  • Participate in LifeLine’s 40-hour annual training requirement.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
