About The Position

The Structural Heart Coordinator is a registered nurse who will be accountable for the effective management and coordination of care of patients primarily being evaluated for transcatheter aortic valve and or mitral valve repair and other structural heart procedures. The Structural Heart Coordinator will collaborate with interventional cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgical team, other structural heart coordinators and clinical staff of multiple departments, including but not limited to scheduling, insurance and billing, cardiac cath lab, electrophysiology lab and additional ancillary services as required to coordinate the care of cardiovascular patients who are being evaluated and selected for structural heart procedures through their pre and post-procedure care. The coordinator will triage patient symptoms both in the clinic and on the phone, including nursing assessment, problem identification, planning, reporting of complex clinical data to the appropriate cardiologist and implementation of the patient's plan of care as directed by the cardiologist.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree
  • RN-Registered Nurse (Illinois) license
  • BLS (AHA) certification
  • 2 years of cardiac experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented

Responsibilities

  • Effective management and coordination of care of patients evaluated for transcatheter aortic valve and/or mitral valve repair and other structural heart procedures.
  • Collaboration with interventional cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgical team, other structural heart coordinators, and clinical staff across multiple departments (scheduling, insurance, billing, cardiac cath lab, electrophysiology lab, ancillary services).
  • Coordination of pre and post-procedure care for cardiovascular patients undergoing structural heart procedures.
  • Triage patient symptoms in clinic and via phone.
  • Perform nursing assessments, identify problems, plan care, and report complex clinical data to the appropriate cardiologist.
  • Implement the patient's plan of care as directed by the cardiologist.
