Nodin Mental Health Services (Nodin MHS) is the mental health department of the Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA), serving First Nation children, youth, adults, and families from 33 remote northern communities. The Social Emergency Response Service specifically supports First Nations communities impacted by traumatic incidents and crises. This role involves receiving information on critical incidents, collaborating with communities and partners to develop response plans, supporting local strategies, and coordinating the mobilization of resources. Support services include counseling, emotional support, debriefing, cultural support, and facilitating longer-term recovery options. The service also dispatches volunteer non-clinical crisis teams and supports in-community volunteer teams. The Coordinator - Social Emergency Response Service will work collaboratively with the crisis response team, managing all administrative duties related to processing community requests, such as travel, accommodations, invoices, and statistics. This role requires effective communication and liaison with internal and external partners, including community leadership. Coordinators are often the first point of contact for information regarding tragic events and are expected to provide support, de-escalate situations if necessary, and determine the best way to offer community support. This is a collaborative position within a fast-paced, dynamic program.
