About The Position

The work involves coordinating the administration of financial aid to students on a campus of a Community College. The incumbent is responsible for adherence to Federal and State regulations regarding financial aid. Supervision is exercised over professional and clerical staff. Does related work as required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree
  • Five (5) years’ experience of responsible educational administration, including five (5) years of experience in financial aid administration at the collegiate level.

Responsibilities

  • Makes awards to students who apply for financial aid by reviewing the student's financial circumstances and establishing the amount of aid needed with full consideration of the student's current need
  • Provides award notifications that clearly indicate the type, amount and conditions of the award, including the expected amount of family contribution and other anticipated resources
  • Notify students of financial aid decisions as early as possible in order to serve the student's best interest, and when possible, coordinating these notifications with those of admissions decisions
  • Coordinates the administration of financial aid through a central office to insure consistency in awarding to students and the most efficient use of available funds
  • Conducts surveys to assist in the development of realistic student populations
  • Releases parents' or students' financial aid records and information only with the written consent of the parents or the student except in accordance with due process of law
  • Provides and maintains financial counseling programs for all students who seek assistance
  • Determines policy, procedures and processes student tuition deferments
  • Responds to Federal, State and independent audits and program reviews
  • Prepares grant proposals, fiscal operations, reports, review and update local financial aid application forms
  • Coordinates efforts with those of Federal, State, community and other agencies as well as those of secondary schools to encourage students to utilize financial aid
  • Cooperates with secondary schools and agencies in providing adequate guidance and counseling in financial planning
  • Conducts periodic reviews of the institution's total financial aid process
  • Maintains close liaison with Business Office, Registrar, Admissions, and Computer Center
