About The Position

As part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a detail-oriented, collaborative, and innovative professional to serve as Assessment Coordinator for the College of Osteopathic Medicine. This position will support the university’s Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by overseeing assessment operations and contributing to continuous quality improvement efforts within the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) and Biomedical Sciences (BMS) programs. Reporting directly to the Assistant/Associate Dean for Accreditation and Assessment, the Assessment Coordinator manages assessment activities across the College of Osteopathic Medicine and collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to support educational assessment, data integrity, and program effectiveness.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least two years of experience in higher education, preferably in a technology related role and support of students and faculty, is required.
  • Years of experience in higher education may replace degree requirements for equivalency for qualified candidates.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents and reports, legal requirements, governmental regulations, and university policies and procedures.
  • Ability to write correspondence and procedure documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database management.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from members of the university or business community.
  • Ability to meet deadlines for meetings, projects, reports and assignments.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions with minimal supervision.
  • Must have strong computer skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Work hours necessary to perform job requirements satisfactorily on a regular basis.
  • Manage absence from work in responsible manner to ensure service to clients, work teams, and coworkers.
  • Comply with Marian University policies and practices and seeking clarification of them when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Prepare and set up all examinations (multiple choice, OSCE, Simulations) and coordinate examination schedules in line with standard operating deadlines.
  • Manage examination administration on the day of the examination and monitor confidentiality and quality assurance of all examinations.
  • Conduct and document post-assessment and post-course reports and note opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate assessments with assessment support staff for their respective DO and BMS programs.
  • Contribute to the development of assessment policies and procedures and follow all documents as written.
  • Develop and maintain training materials and standard operating procedures for use by administration, faculty, and students regarding ExamSoft and COM student performance database.
  • Onboard new faculty in ExamSoft and conduct regular training sessions as needed.
  • Orient students to ExamSoft and Canvas relative to assessment administration, and notify students of any technical issues related to these programs.
  • Ensure that assessment technology is functioning appropriately and refer students/faculty/staff to IT as appropriate.
  • Support Clinical Faculty and Simulation Center Staff for the smooth implementation of OSCEs, simulations, and practical assessments utilizing ExamSoft and Canvas.
  • Facilitate post-assessment reporting and the evaluation of inter-rater discrepancies.
  • Coordinate assessment arrangements for students with accommodations and collaborate with Course Directors and the MU Personalized Learning Center.
  • Consult with Course Directors to process assessment grades and release assessment reports to students, faculty, and administration.
  • Prepare and distribute student, course, and category summary reports to faculty, staff, and students at the end of each course.
  • Consult with the COM Assistant/Associate Dean for Accreditation and Assessment on long term tracking of assessment outcomes and provide reports as needed.
  • Serve as a front-line expert in coordination of ExamSoft, COM student database, and Canvas as it relates to assessment scores and student grades.
  • Confirm with Registrar for reporting of final course grades, course remediation grades, quintile, and GPA to be loaded into Progress IQ.
  • Other duties as assigned.
