About The Position

Works regionally in high schools to support the Career and College Success (CCS) of students who would benefit from greater 1:1 support in this area through career-focused mentoring. Works directly with school's Pathway Director, Counselors, and College and Technical Education (CTE)/CareerConnect (CC) teachers to recruit students and support the facilitation of the monthly sessions designed to build upon the Individual Career and Academic Plans (ICAP), foster greater career identity and exploration, and determine the best path forward for career and college success and will provide ongoing case management for participating youth.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with school-based program liaisons (Pathway Directors, Counselors, Navigators, etc.) to coordinate all program logistics and needs, including bus reservation, space reservation, IT equipment reservation (projectors/screens) as needed
  • Manages pre, during, and post-session logistics to ensure the highest quality of program execution, including: food request forms, food receipt, and documentation follow-up
  • Facilitates high-quality career and college exploration mentoring content for students and mentors using pre developed curriculum through the academic school year
  • Coordinates work site and college visits annually
  • Provides excellent customer service to business partners and other program supporters
  • Oversee the distribution and collection of mentors and student surveys, and track student incentives and work-readiness assessments.
  • Finalize Mentor/Mentee matches for Coach cohort(s).
  • Provides continual match support to ensure quality relationships and program retention for both students and mentors via monthly mentor and student check-ins outside of sessions
  • Facilitate large group Coach mentor training and deliver the cohort content (activities/curriculum) to both student and adult learners.
  • Emphasize and ensure the integration of program implementation and Advanced Pathway advisement into the student curriculum and mentor training materials.
  • In collaboration with school staff, recruit and provide case management for Coach mentor student participants, particularly focusing on those from underrepresented populations. Refer students to other community-based mentor programs when appropriate.
  • Target Coach program recruitment to underrepresented populations to ensure equitable access to Career and College Success (CCS) opportunities.
  • Monitor student participation to prevent over/undersaturation of community mentor partners and enhance the representation of DPS graduation requirements and student career and college planning.
  • Provide outreach and engagement assistance at assigned schools by case-managing participating students who require additional CCS support.
  • Ensure the Coach curriculum is aligned with CCS-related opportunities and facilitates meaningful career conversations.
  • Gather and provide family/student resources to enhance engagement and participation.
  • Create and/or utilize bi-annual reports based on information gathered through district platforms and other online event management systems.
  • Track student and mentor attendance and manage data entry in the required systems and resources.
  • Support the recruitment of professional mentors and assist with the selection and training of mentors.
  • Serve as a liaison between school-based staff and Coach business partners to ensure program continuity and intended outcomes.
  • Advocate for the inclusion of critical CCS information/data and basic career/college mentoring with stakeholders
  • Advocate for the Coach Mentoring program within school(s) to teachers, school staff, students, parents, business partners, and the wider community by delivering presentations, distributing marketing materials, and representing CCS in various settings.
  • Provide open communication and feedback to the CCS Leadership Team and other central staff to ensure continuous program effectiveness and improvement.
  • Coordinate with Coach partners (mentors) to ensure continuous improvement of mentoring support.
