About The Position

Serves as a key instructional support for the site principals at multiple schools to oversee the implementation of the Black Student Achievement Plan as outlined in the LAUSD Strategic Plan. Aligns Black students’ needs with resources to ensure academic success and assists the Black Student Achievement administrator and region leadership in providing instructional support for selected BSAP schools. Works with the site principal and instructional leadership team to lead the development and implementation of instructional initiatives and strategic plans that close the achievement gap and ensures that Black students achieve high academic standards and graduate college-prepared or career-ready reaching the Board-approved success indicators.

Requirements

• At least eight (8) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than two (2) years of which must have been in a leadership position(s) (e.g. coordinator, instructional coach, dean)
• A valid California Administrative Services Credential
• An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
• Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework

• Experience with effectively collaborating with central office staff, parents, community members, and school site staff
• Experience with providing professional development and guidance regarding general education curriculum, best practices for instruction for Black students.
• Experience with data collection systems and the ability to analyze data to make decisions
• Knowledge of staff development and in-service resources and the ability to implement them
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including technological skills and successful experience presenting to large groups
• Strong leadership, collaboration, team-building, and organizational skills
• Broad-based, multiple age teaching experience including supporting Black students
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with diverse racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, linguistic, and disability groups
• Ability to travel to other sites/locations

Responsibilities

• Provides direct support to BSAP school teams with developing, facilitating, and implementing all activities and programs under the Black Student Achievement Plan
• Monitors school level Black student achievement data (attendance, ELA and mathematics proficiency, A-G on track, access to AP & honors courses, special education referrals, etc.)
• Coordinates the planning and implementation of interventions for Black students
• Coordinates the monitoring and securing of community partnerships and related activities
• Uses and analyzes data to integrate research-based, multi-tiered approaches and intervention models into programs for Black students
• Collaborates with school site personnel providing strategies and methodology, guidance, and professional development
• Leads the work with parent and community organizations to support Black student achievement
• Designs and implements professional development targeting the needs of teachers, administrators, and para-educators in designing classroom environments responsive to the needs of Black students
• Performs other duties as assigned
