About The Position

This position assists the Program Manager in overseeing and coordinating programming for the program. The role involves coordinating and leading professional learning opportunities, outreach events, and community engagement to increase awareness of the District’s homeless population. Responsibilities also include researching and applying for funding, developing and maintaining the program website and newsletter, assessing service quality, participating in community task forces, and collecting and analyzing student data to aid in program planning. The Coordinator will also manage transportation and material requests, coordinate referrals for homeless students and families, and assist with services at Drop-In Centers as needed.

Requirements

  • Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. Equivalency)
  • At least five years’ experience working in an urban school district.
  • Demonstrates strong written and oral language skills.
  • Exhibits good judgement in decision making and problem solving.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with the computer software programs including PowerSchool, Oracle, MS Office Suite.
  • Must have excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to work and communicate with diverse audience
  • Demonstrates excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Oracle.
  • Demonstrates the district’s Core 4 customer service model.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Program Manager overseeing and coordinating programming for the program.
  • Coordinate and lead professional learning opportunities for district staff and shelter staff/personnel.
  • Coordinate outreach events and speaking engagements in the community to increase awareness of the District’s homeless population.
  • Research and apply for new funding from foundations, grants, and other private sources; work with community organizations and individuals to seek donations to support our homeless students and families.
  • Develop and maintain the program website and newsletter.
  • Assess the quality of services provided by the program and how they can be improved; assess the quality of programming provided by our vendors to our homeless students.
  • Participate on community task forces regarding homelessness; attend community meetings that address the issues of homelessness.
  • Provide outreach information to campuses to distribute to homeless families upon enrollment.
  • Collect and analyze student data to assist in program planning for services.
  • Coordinate with transportation for transportation requests and materials requests from campuses.
  • Work with campus personnel to coordinate referrals to needed services for homeless students and families.
  • Assist with services and programming at Drop-In Centers as needed.
