About The Position

This position is a key member of the office of Student Life and Diversity. This position also oversees the successful execution of campus and student organization programming efforts through event planning, budget support, supervising student employees and the ability to develop and facilitate workshops on leadership, identity, and social justice. The individual in this position is also responsible for co-advising Student Senate and traveling with them to LEAD MN conferences. Additionally, they will develop and maintain a student resources that engages and supports Saint Paul Colleges commitment to becoming an Antiracist Trauma Informed (ARTI) campus. Collaborate with Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion and campus partners to promote the success of historically marginalized and underrepresented students through special initiatives, training, and programs.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience working with diverse populations on a college campus in student life setting (A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field may substitute for one year of experience).
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, religious, gender identity, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of college students, staff, and faculty.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills sufficient to participate in discussions and communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Demonstrated understanding of student government, leadership development, college student identity development theories and practice.
  • Experience using computers and software in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to track data in an organized and accurate manner, and report that data.
  • Applicant must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States. We are unable to sponsorship or take over sponsorship of employment visa at our institution. The successful candidate under U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations must be able to accept work in the U.S. by the day employment begins.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred in a relevant field (higher education, student personnel, counseling, leisure activities, nonprofit management, program/volunteer management, etc.)
  • Experience in a Student Life & Diversity setting on a college campus with direct experience with student government and student organization support
  • Previous experience managing or working with large budgets
  • Knowledge of event planning and management.
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Leadership, Identity Development, and Inclusive Campus Engagement.
  • Advise Student Senate and student organizations in the identification, planning, marketing, and budget process for the execution of successful programs and events.
  • Coordinates the Student Life Office to ensure that learning experiences related to student life are implemented and introduced to students.
  • Oversee student workers to ensure that records are maintained accurately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization.
