About The Position

Reporting to the Technical Lead - Environment, the Coordinator – Environment is a key player in ensuring effective safety leadership, overseeing on-site activities, and actively contributing to environmental compliance. With a focus on meticulous coordination and field leadership, the role plays an integral part in maintaining BW Gold's commitment to environmental stewardship. BW Gold is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc (“Artemis”). Artemis Gold is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company with strong financials aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. The Company's current focus is the Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, Environmental Science, or a related Natural Resources Management field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience, preferably in a mining environment with experience with monitoring and compliance programs, environmental monitoring databases, software, and compliance programs.
  • Familiarity with relevant BC and federal legislation and regulations (e.g., Environmental management Act, Mines Act, HSRC, Fisheries Act).
  • Experience working in the field for long hours in adverse weather conditions.
  • Strong technical writing and organizational skills.
  • Current registration or eligible for registration in a professional discipline (e.g. EP, P. Ag, R.P. Bio.)
  • Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation

Nice To Haves

  • Exrience in groundwater monitoring programs would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with off-road vehicles (e.g. snowmobiles, ATV’s/UTV’s, boats) is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
  • Manage and coordinate consultants and contractors’ activity on-site.
  • Assist with the preparation of scopes of work, requests for proposals, and invoice review for field programs on-site.
  • Ensure sample shipping, processing and data review is complete.
  • Maintain the environmental inspection database including tracking inspection action items raised and following up with the Environmental Superintendent as required on upcoming and overdue action items.
  • Act as a field team lead to support monitoring and sample collection programs outlined by environmental permits, regulations, and systems.
  • Demonstrate leadership with environmental technicians through the surface water and groundwater monitoring programs.
  • Perform tasks set out in various Management Plans, such as providing new hire orientations, attending toolbox meetings to present awareness topics, and completing inspections of work sites to identify potential impacts.
  • Support in reporting requirements for monitoring programs regarding compliance with associated permits and regulations.
  • Contribute to a positive working environment
  • Ability to maintain performance in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs
