About The Position

The Coordinator, Accounting & Financial Innovation is responsible for delivering accurate, efficient, and compliant financial operations while leading continuous improvement across Tamarack's financial systems and processes. Beyond day-to-day accounting, this role identifies opportunities to automate workflows, improve financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and enhance the organization's financial capabilities through technology and innovation. As Tamarack continues to evolve its financial sustainability strategy, this position offers a significant opportunity for growth. A successful candidate will help shape the future of Tamarack's financial operations and may expand into broader responsibilities supporting revenue generation, business development, financial strategy, and organizational innovation.

Requirements

  • Two years' experience or equivalent.
  • College diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Excel is essential.
  • Demonstrated organization skills, including ability to manage concurrent priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Discreet and able to work with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Adaptable and flexible as the role evolves with the organization.
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and self-driven.
  • Ability to engage virtually, both independently and in co-operation with a small, remote team.
  • This role requires a high level of comfort with an online presence. This includes being on camera during meetings, facilitating digital gatherings, and having your professional photo and bio featured on our website.
  • Willingness/ability to travel, as required.

  • Proficiency in Xero an asset but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of: Payroll and benefits administration, Accounts payable and receivable, Bank and account reconciliations, Credit card administration, Financial reporting and documentation, Financial records management, Finance inbox and stakeholder support
  • Lead continuous improvements by: Identifying automation opportunities, Improving financial workflows and controls, Evaluating and implementing technology solutions, Supporting integration of finance systems, Developing policies and standard operating procedures, Training staff on financial processes and systems, Being a thought partner to identify, triage and implement process improvements
  • Partner across the Tamarack team to: Improve financial literacy across teams, Strengthen decision-making through improved reporting, Enhance operational efficiency, Support organizational planning and strategic initiatives, Contribute to cross-functional projects that strengthen Tamarack's long-term sustainability
  • Contributes to Tamarack's Seeds of Transformation Framework and Action Plan by embedding our commitments to Equity, Anti-Racism, and Reconciliation into everyday work, using framework tools, and collaborating with colleagues and network members to advance this action.
  • Applies a strong understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action.
