About The Position

MDS Aero Support Corporation is an engineering-based organization whose primary focus is the supply of test facilities and test systems for aviation and industrial gas turbine engines. Certified to both ISO 9001 and 14001 standards, MDS has supplied turnkey engine test facilities, test support equipment, data acquisition systems, and engineering services to a variety of industries and organizations around the globe since 1985. MDS is seeking a 12-month Co-op Student – Purchasing to join our team. Our Purchasing function is responsible for the execution and management of MDS procurement, supplier relationships, logistics, warehouse management, and production planning. This co-op opportunity provides hands-on exposure to the business side of an engineering organization, giving you the chance to work closely with our Purchasing team and gain insight into how engineering projects move from planning to execution. The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in an Engineering program, preferably with a focus in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, and is looking for a 12-month co-op placement where they can apply their technical knowledge while developing valuable experience in procurement and supply chain operations.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering program at a recognized university and registered in the university’s Co-op Program.
  • Available and eligible to complete a 12-month co-op placement.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.
  • Strong interest in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, and manufacturing operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, positive, and willing-to-learn attitude.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Purchasing department assisting the team on project sourcing activities.
  • Generate Purchase Orders and maintain Purchase Order files.
  • Coordinate with Engineering product substitutions.
  • Expedite Purchase Orders with suppliers. Manage issues related to supplier fulfilment proactively and in conjunction with other stakeholders.
  • Support supplier invoice and receipt management in the ERP system and coordinate with the Finance department.
