About The Position

This job is exclusively for Coop Students who are enrolled in a recognized post-secondary co-operative education program. The Planning, Infrastructure and Economic Development department is responsible for the planning and delivery of growth activities, including long range land use planning, the City’s long-term infrastructure plan, the management of capital investments, development approvals, delivering on major city-building projects and identifying opportunities to foster economic prosperity. The student is responsible for performing various activities associated with the support of planning activities, including conducting surveys, research, data analysis, and preparing documents.

Requirements

  • Enrolment in a recognized co-operative education program in urban planning, environmental studies, or related field
  • No experience required
  • Familiarity with general land use planning principles
  • Knowledge of word processing
  • Knowledge of spread sheets
  • Knowledge of GIS
  • Knowledge of interpreting air photos and maps
  • Familiarity with reading plans
  • Analytical techniques
  • Research techniques
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to quickly adjust from one project to another
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Flexible
  • Dependable
  • English oral, reading, writing
