Cooking Class Instructor / Chef Instructor (Flexible, Part-Time)
About The Position
CocuSocial is seeking experienced Chef Instructors to lead fun, hands-on cooking classes in Chicago at partner venues such as hotels, breweries, cafés, and event spaces. Instructors create memorable culinary experiences for guests of all skill levels in an engaging, interactive environment. The role offers flexible scheduling, with instructors choosing how often they teach, and creative freedom to develop classes around cuisines and recipes they are passionate about. CocuSocial supports instructors with marketing, ticket sales, customer service, venue partnerships, class-development guidance, operations, and best practices. Compensation is $200–$350+ per class, plus guest tips; the posting also lists pay of $200–$350 per day. Classes are held in person. The position is part-time and contract.
Requirements
- Professional culinary background.
- Passion for food and enthusiasm for sharing culinary skills with others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfort speaking to and engaging groups of up to 26 guests.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience teaching cooking classes, culinary education, demonstrations, team training, or in another instructional environment is preferred.
- English language skills are preferred.
- Comfort teaching one or more of the listed class concepts: Handmade Pasta, Sushi Making, Neapolitan or Artisan Pizza, Dumplings, Pad Thai, Paella, Street Tacos, Empanadas, French Pastry & Choux, Cheese Making, Mixology, or Wine Tasting. Additional cuisines and specialties are welcome.
Responsibilities
- Lead and organize the entire class experience, including ingredient purchasing, setup, instruction, and cleanup.
- Create a fun, engaging, and beginner-friendly learning environment.
- Teach classes in a hands-on, interactive format.
- Maintain high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and organization throughout the event.
- Represent CocuSocial professionally while delivering exceptional guest experiences.
