About The Position

Amity Foundation is seeking a Cook for its Beacon project. The Cook prepares meals for the program’s student population, ensuring meals are served on time and that sanitation, nutrition, safety, recipe adherence, quality, and cost control are priorities. The role works directly with the Food Service Manager and supports students learning food-service skills.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED), or actively working toward a high school diploma or GED.
• One year of related culinary experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current state driver’s license.
• ServeSafe Certification.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Maintain social, ethical, and organizational values and norms; build trust and confidence with staff and students; and respect confidentiality.
• Apply high-performance standards to all work-related activities.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Food Service Manager on the daily planning, preparation, and presentation of three balanced meals for the program.
• Assist with ordering and storing food in accordance with CDPH and LA County Health Department food-preparation standards.
• Follow the monthly rotating menu.
• Help maintain high standards in the food-service dining room and kitchen.
• Assist in training students in cooking, food preparation and presentation, dining-room aesthetics, food-storage procedures, and daily hygiene.
• Attend Community Building day activities.
• Follow the community schedule and serve all meals on time.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
