About The Position

The Cook position requires experience as a cook/baker in a large institutional kitchen. The role involves preparing food according to standard recipes, managing kitchen equipment safely, and maintaining food sanitation standards. This position also requires the ability to plan and coordinate cooking processes to minimize waste and ensure timely preparation of meals.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years' cooking experience in the food service industry.
• Experience as a cook/baker in a large institutional kitchen.
• Safe operation and maintenance of all kitchen equipment.
• Proper food sanitation and storage practices.
• Basic arithmetic skills.
• Simple record keeping.
• Portion control and ability to determine servings in a container/pan.
• Ability to follow standard recipe cards and worksheets.
• Knowledge of the characteristics of various foods prepared (color, consistency, volume, cooking time).
• Proficiency in various cooking methods (baking, grilling, frying, steaming, boiling, etc.).
• Skills to plan, coordinate, and time sequence steps needed to prepare food on time.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions (worksheets, menus, schedules).
• Ability to communicate and interact among Contractor management and personnel.
• Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform duties requiring considerable walking and standing for prolonged periods.
• Basic mathematical skills.
