About The Position

Serenity Knolls, a premier residential treatment center in beautiful Forest Knolls, is seeking a Cook to join our culinary team. We're located in the San Geronimo Valley just 10 minutes West of Fairfax. Serenity Knolls is a 42 bed co-ed facility serving ages 18 and up. Included in the 42 bed capacity are 6 beds available for detox. Serenity Knolls is a 12 step based, social model residential treatment center. The Knolls uniquely combines the traditional social model of care with contemporary cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic and evidence based practice.

Requirements

  • Experience cooking for large groups
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and flexible
  • Willing to work 5, 4 hour shifts with 1 weekend day coverage per week.
  • Shift availability either Wed-Sat or Thurs-Sun, mid day coverage needed.
  • ServSafe Certification or similar food safety certification, where required by the state, facility.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Additional education or training in the culinary field preferred.
  • Two or more years’ experience in food service role in preparing food for institutions, such as school, hospital or cafeteria preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Cook and prepare food according to approved menus.
  • Direct activities of workers who assist in preparing and serving meals.
  • Clean and inspect equipment, kitchen appliances and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
  • Take inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Work with Food Service leadership or Dietitian to ensure menus are varied, nutritionally balanced and appetizing.
  • Perform and coordinate food production, cleaning, maintenance, and inventory control activities.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures, quality standards, cost parameters, and appropriate regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
