About The Position

Serenity Knolls, a premier residential treatment center in Forest Knolls, is seeking a Cook to join their culinary team. Located in the San Geronimo Valley, Serenity Knolls is a 42-bed co-ed facility serving adults, including 6 detox beds. The center uniquely combines a traditional social model of care with contemporary cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and evidence-based practices. This part-time position involves working 20-29 hours per week, with 5, 4-hour shifts, including one weekend day per week. Shift availability is either Wednesday-Saturday or Thursday-Sunday, with mid-day coverage needed. The role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact through food, nourishing both body and spirit.

Requirements

  • Experience cooking for large groups
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and flexible
  • Willing to work 5, 4 hour shifts with 1 weekend day coverage per week.
  • Shift availability either Wed-Sat or Thurs-Sun, mid day coverage needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Additional education or training in the culinary field preferred.
  • Two or more years’ experience in food service role in preparing food for institutions, such as school, hospital or cafeteria preferred.
  • ServSafe Certification or similar food safety certification, where required by the state, facility.

Responsibilities

  • Cook and prepare food according to approved menus.
  • Direct activities of workers who assist in preparing and serving meals.
  • Clean and inspect equipment, kitchen appliances and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
  • Take inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Work with Food Service leadership or Dietitian to ensure menus are varied, nutritionally balanced and appetizing.
  • Perform and coordinate food production, cleaning, maintenance, and inventory control activities.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures, quality standards, cost parameters, and appropriate regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
