About The Position

The Cook prepares delicious food for residents of The Rivers, an independent living, assisted living, and memory care community in Burnsville, Minnesota. The role includes meeting residents’ varied dietary needs and preferences, maintaining an orderly kitchen, and following food safety and sanitary food-handling practices. Cooks may occasionally assist with hiring, orientation, training, and evaluation of kitchen staff, and may help supervise utility and front-of-house staff as needed. They are expected to foster a motivating environment that encourages team involvement, creativity, and problem-solving. The position starts at $22.00 per hour, depending on experience, and includes occasional Saturday or Sunday shifts.

Requirements

Ability to prepare therapeutic or modified diets.
Successful completion of a recognized food safety course.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work with staff and external constituents.
Completion of a background check.
First Aid and CPR training may be required in certain state or local jurisdictions.
A drug screen, physical examination, TB test, and fingerprinting may be required under state or local guidelines.

Experience as a chef or kitchen manager in a senior living community.
