About The Position

The Rivers, an independent living, assisted living, and memory care community in Burnsville, Minnesota, is seeking a Cook. Cooks prepare food for residents that accommodates a variety of dietary needs and preferences, help maintain an orderly kitchen, and ensure food safety and sanitary food handling. The role may also involve assisting with kitchen staff hiring, orientation, training, and evaluation, as well as supervising utility and front-of-house staff as needed. Cooks are expected to help create a motivating environment that encourages team involvement, creativity, and problem solving. The pay starts at $22.00 per hour, depending on experience (DOE). The role includes occasional Saturday or Sunday shifts.

Requirements

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with staff and external constituents.
Ability to prepare therapeutic or modified diets.
Successful completion of a recognized food safety course.
First Aid and CPR training may be required in certain state or local jurisdictions.
Completion of a background check; a drug screen, physical, TB test, and fingerprinting may be needed according to state or local guidelines.

Nice To Haves

Experience as a Chef or Kitchen Manager in a senior living community.
