About The Position

Victorian Post Acute is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our Dietary Services team. Our 90-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility is committed to providing exceptional care, and nutritious, high-quality meals are an essential part of our residents' health and recovery. This position plays a key role in our kitchen operations and serves as the lead in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Current California Food Handler's Card required
  • Ability to prepare therapeutic and special diets accurately
  • Ability to work independently and follow standardized recipes and menus
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and infection control practices
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Reliable, dependable, and committed to providing excellent service to residents

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one (1) year of cooking experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, long-term care facility, or similar healthcare setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to approved recipes, menus, and physician-ordered therapeutic diets
  • Prepare a variety of foods in large quantities while maintaining consistency and quality
  • Accurately prepare modified and texture-altered diets, including pureed foods
  • Follow portion control guidelines and ensure attractive food presentation
  • Record and monitor food temperatures to maintain food safety standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, cooking area, equipment, and serving carts
  • Ensure sanitizer buckets are maintained with proper quaternary solution levels
  • Assist with meal service and support the dietary team during breakfast, lunch, and dinner service
  • Follow all local, state, federal, and facility food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Monitor and complete assigned cleaning schedules
  • Communicate resident concerns or dietary-related issues to the Administrator and/or Director of Nursing as appropriate
  • Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff
  • Provide leadership and assist with kitchen operations in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor
  • Work collaboratively with nursing, therapy, and other departments to provide outstanding resident care
