About The Position

Americare Senior Living is seeking a dependable and service-minded Dining Service Cook to prepare and serve family-style meals, snacks, and beverages for residents in our Independent Living community. In this role, you’ll support a warm, welcoming dining experience that feels like home while meeting nutrition and food safety standards. This position may also support special events, staff meals, and person-centered requests where food is prepared based on resident preferences. The Dining Service Cook prepares and cooks meals in quantities based on menus and resident needs while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment. This role supports resident satisfaction through nutritious, well-prepared meals and friendly service. This role may also be known as: Dining Service Cook, Cook, Kitchen Cook, Food Service Cook, or Independent Living Cook.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Grade school education required
  • Understanding of nutrition-based meals
  • Ability to follow menus and food preparation guidelines
  • Safe food handling and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Service-oriented mindset with attention to resident satisfaction

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook family-style meals, snacks, and beverages for residents
  • Cook foodstuffs according to menu plans and number of residents served
  • Support person-centered dining by preparing meals based on resident requests when applicable
  • Bake breads and pastries and assist with meat preparation as needed
  • Prepare and serve food and drinks in a timely manner
  • Assist with cooking and food preparation for special activities and events
  • Attend and serve food during staff meetings or in-service sessions when requested
  • Store, label, and organize food in a safe and sanitary manner
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
  • Set and clear tables before and after meals
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe kitchen and dining environment
  • Inspect kitchen equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns
