About The Position

The Cook prepares and portions food for the resort’s food and beverage outlets. The role requires a solid background in preparing soups, stocks, grilled foods, and roasts, along with knowledge of varied food-preparation methods and techniques. The Cook handles knives skillfully and operates kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. The position may take control of the kitchen when a Sous Chef is absent, follows the kitchen chain of command, and actively helps train new cooks. The Cook also assists the Chef with kitchen cleanliness and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to four years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts, including proportions and percentages, and apply basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, diagrammed, or scheduled instructions.
• Ability to work well with others in a close environment, with a learning attitude and speed and efficiency on the line.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in a culinary field or a fifth-year college or university program certificate.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and portion food for the resort’s food and beverage outlets.
• Prepare soups, stocks, grilled foods, and roasts using varied methods and techniques.
• Handle knives skillfully and operate kitchen equipment safely, efficiently, and effectively.
• Assume control of the kitchen in the absence of a Sous Chef.
• Follow the kitchen chain of command.
• Take an active role in training new cooks.
• Assist the Chef with maintaining kitchen cleanliness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
