About The Position

Cooks provide exceptional culinary experiences to residents and guests as part of the daily operation of the kitchen and dining room. This hands-on, full-service position involves preparing delicious meals for residents and staff while helping ensure meals are balanced and nutritious. Management and team members provide job training to help cooks meet residents’ preferences and needs. Candidates from all industries are welcome, including people displaced from restaurant jobs and anyone passionate about customer service. Requirements

Basic culinary skills and willingness to cook from scratch and prepare a variety of menu items.
Interpersonal relationship skills.
Passion and empathy, with compassion for serving others.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must pass a background check and TB test.
Must obtain and maintain Serve Safe Certification.

Nice To Haves

One to three years of experience in dietary or food services.
Experience working in banquet or catering operations.

Responsibilities

Provide residents with restaurant-quality meals and beverages.
Help produce varied, creative, and nutritious menus that consider residents’ requests; prepare daily specials and fill special orders.
Follow the schedule and posted work and cleaning assignments for the front and back of the house.
Maintain proper hygiene in food handling and preparation and meet sanitation requirements for the food service area and personnel in accordance with State Health Department regulations.
Coordinate with the building Executive Director and Lifestyle Director to set up food and supplies for special events throughout the community.
Wear the proper uniform each day.
Know and follow the employee handbook.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Culinary Director or Corporate Culinary Support Team.
