About The Position

Larksfield Place Retirement Communities is seeking a skilled and dependable Cook to join their culinary team. This full-time position involves preparing safe, high-quality meals that support resident health and well-being. The ideal candidate has a passion for preparing nutritious and flavorful meals in a clean, safe environment and thrives in a kitchen setting where teamwork, flexibility, attention to detail, and resident satisfaction are top priorities. The role offers a flexible schedule with variety in shifts and responsibilities, including cooking, prep work, and dish support. As a Cook, you will uphold standards for infection control, allergen awareness, and cross-contamination prevention, contributing to memorable meals and meaningful moments for residents.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional cooking experience in a restaurant line and/or healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and recipe compliance
  • Strong understanding of kitchen operations and cleanliness standards
  • Ability to adapt to varying kitchen responsibilities and schedules
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Pass a TB screening
  • Kansas Food Handler’s Card required

Nice To Haves

  • ServeSafe Certification preferred
  • High school diploma or GED preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals for residents following standardized recipes and dietary requirements
  • Support both AM and PM meal service operations within the Health Care Center
  • Assist with food prep, dishwashing support, and kitchen organization as needed
  • Ensure food safety and sanitation procedures are followed consistently
  • Maintain cleanliness in all workstations and kitchen areas
  • Assist with plating, garnishing, and presenting meals to meet Larksfield Place standards
  • Follow established protocols to ensure meal consistency, portion control, and quality
  • Communicate with dietary staff regarding resident preferences and feedback
  • Support daily kitchen operations including prep, equipment checks, and inventory rotation
  • Uphold standards for infection control, allergen awareness, and cross-contamination prevention
