Job Overview: The Cook's primary responsibility is to plan and prepare meals from scratch that are memorable, enjoyable, nutritious, and community-building experiences. As a cook with us, you will support residents and accommodate their individual tastes and service plans by engaging them in the meal planning and preparation process. You play an important role in establishing the kitchen as the heart of every home by creating a welcoming and supportive kitchen environment. Compensation Range: $20 to $23 per hour (based on experience level) Shift: Full-time, Friday-Monday, 7:30am-5:30pm Location: 4444 SE Oatfield Hill Rd., Milwaukie, Oregon 97267

Requirements

  • Experience cooking on a large scale
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to pass a food service sanitation course
  • Obtain Food Handlers card
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow recipes
  • Familiarity with general kitchen equipment and appliances
  • Experience in food service or restaurant experience required
  • Comfortable standing, stopping, squatting, twisting, and moving frequently
  • Strong working knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and safety and sanitation practices
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and reside within the State of Oregon to apply.
  • Must have reliable means of transportation/commuting to work.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months experience cooking in long-term care preferred

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and oversight of household meals
  • Prepare healthy, nutritious meals, from scratch whenever possible
  • Maintain unit portions and report when a resident eats less than usual
  • Utilize fruits and vegetables grown in the Elite Care gardens whenever possible
  • Understand and follow each resident’s service plan as it relates to nutrition and hydration
  • Support residents’ autonomy by allowing residents to do as much for themselves as possible
