About The Position

The Cook prepares food of consistent quality and assists with kitchen functions at the Kartrite Resort & Waterpark. The role follows recipe cards and production and portion standards, prepares food for service, monitors stock and food storage, assists with buffet service and food-cost controls, and operates and cleans kitchen equipment. The position requires regular attendance, effective communication, and the ability to perform the listed physical tasks with or without reasonable accommodation. Hotel experience is preferred.

Requirements

Finger and hand dexterity to operate food machinery, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or otherwise move goods weighing up to 100 lbs. on a continuous schedule, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences, including supervisors, coworkers, and the public.

Responsibilities

Prepare food of consistent quality by following recipe cards and production and portion standards, according to server checks.
Start food items prepared ahead of time while avoiding over-preparation.
Date food containers and rotate items according to HEI Hotels and Resorts standards; keep perishables at proper temperatures.
Check pars for shift use and determine preparation needs, freezer pulls, and line setup.
Note out-of-stock items and possible shortages.
Assist in keeping the buffet stocked.
Return unused food items to designated storage areas for the next shift, covering and dating perishables.
Assist with plans and actions to address food-cost problems and control food waste, loss, and usage according to HEI Hotels and Resorts standards.
Operate, maintain, and properly clean kitchen equipment.
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
