About The Position

Friendship is seeking a Cook to join its Friendship Assisted Living team in Salem, Virginia. The Cook prepares daily meals for residents, staff, and visitors, and monitors food handling, storage, and serving. The role uses kitchen equipment and utensils safely, follows food safety and sanitation requirements, prepares nutritious meals and requested special foods, and completes assigned cleaning and food-service documentation. The full-time schedule varies by shift and includes every other weekend.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and crouch throughout the day.
Frequently lift or move objects weighing over 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Cook experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Correctly and safely use kitchen equipment and utensils for food preparation, service, and cleaning.
Follow facility policies and procedures, as well as laws and regulations related to food safety and sanitation.
Prepare quality, nutritious foods according to directions and assignments, including special foods requested on forecast sheets.
Follow the assigned cleaning schedule for equipment and areas, including walls, floors, and cooking equipment.
Use communication sheets to inform staff which foods have been prepared and seek approval for changes or substitutions.
Understand and use forecasting, work production, and communication sheets.
Check the tray line for leftovers after meals.
