About The Position

Union County Community Action, Inc. (UCCA) is seeking a dedicated Cook to prepare nutritious family-style meals for children and staff in our Head Start and Early Head Start programs while maintaining a safe and sanitary kitchen environment. The starting rate is up to $13.50 per hour for a schedule of Monday–Friday 6:30am-2:30pm, totaling 40 hours per week. Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Serve Safe Certification required within six months of employment
• Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment
• Strong organizational and teamwork skills
• Valid driver’s license required
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and TB test, and must submit to random drug screenings.

Nice To Haves

• Six months to one year of related food service experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards
• Assist with food inventory and supply organization
• Follow CACFP and program nutrition guidelines
• Operate kitchen equipment safely
• Support a positive dining experience for children
