RainCity Housing and Support SocietyVancouver, BC

About The Position

RainCity Housing is an organization that makes a difference in people’s lives. Our mission is to advance social equity by building upon the strengths of our community and of each individual. With a goal of providing a home for everyone, RainCity’s programs sustain relationships, strengthen communities, and make change for people experiencing homelessness, mental health, trauma, and substance use issues. RainCity Housing has been developing emerging and promising practices for over 40 years in social services and healthcare, providing Housing First, harm reduction and supports for community members who access our services. The Princess Rooms program was RainCity Housing’s first minimal barrier housing program in Vancouver for people facing systemic and individual barriers to adequate housing and health, personal and financial security. Princess Rooms came to life to address the unique safety and support needs of people who struggle with mental health in our community. The program offers a flexible, non-judgemental environment and follows a harm-reduction/health promotion philosophy. For us, the term ‘Risk Reduction’ doesn’t only apply to drug use or safer sex. It can mean safer lives, creating safer spaces for people to live and thrive in.
