Requirements

Grade XII education
English-as-a-Additional Language (EAL) Level 6 required. Must successfully complete a prescribed skills test
Certificate from a recognized cooking school, or two years experience with excellent references working as a Cook / relief Cook in the Simkin Centre
Valid Food Handler Certificate
Minimum of two years relevant experience in a commercial kitchen
Experience in a cook chill production environment
This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, an Adult Abuse Registry Check and a Child Abuse Registry Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.

Responsibilities

Responsible for cooking menu items for all diets in quantities as specified on all production sheets; prepares menu items as specified for the cooking rotation currently assigned to;
Must strictly follow all guidelines pertaining to Cook Chill production;
Complies with Jewish dietary laws as determined by the Simkin Centre;
Maintains ingredient and portion control as per standardized recipes;
Supervises and replaces dietary staff in the absence of the Food Services Manager or designate;
Performs all duties in accordance with established health and safety regulations/guidelines, policies and procedures.
Ability to lift 50 pounds utilizing appropriate lifting techniques.
Other duties as assigned.
