About The Position

Nutrition Management Services Company (NMSC) is seeking an experienced Cook Supervisor to join our culinary team at a private school. This is a hands-on, working supervisor position for an experienced cook who enjoys being actively involved in daily food preparation while helping lead and organize the kitchen team. The Cook Supervisor works alongside the culinary team to prepare and serve fresh, high-quality meals for students, faculty, and staff while providing day-to-day direction to kitchen employees. This position helps ensure production is completed on time, recipes and quality standards are followed, and the kitchen operates safely, efficiently, and professionally.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2–3 years of professional cooking experience in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Strong cooking and food preparation skills with the ability to follow and execute standardized recipes.
  • Ability and willingness to work the line and cook alongside the team throughout the day.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and allergen procedures.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and move food, supplies, and kitchen equipment as required.
  • ServSafe certification preferred or ability to obtain as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous lead cook or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in school dining, healthcare, corporate dining, hospitality, catering, or contract food service is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in daily cooking, preparation, and food production.
  • Provide day-to-day direction and supervision to cooks, prep staff, and utility employees.
  • Coordinate daily production to ensure all menu items are prepared correctly and ready for service on time.
  • Follow standardized recipes, production sheets, portion standards, and presentation expectations.
  • Maintain high standards for food quality, flavor, freshness, and appearance.
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, inventory, and proper storage of food and supplies.
  • Monitor food production and minimize waste and overproduction.
  • Ensure proper food temperatures, sanitation procedures, allergen protocols, and food safety practices are consistently followed.
  • Assist with student dining, faculty functions, catering, and special school events.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
  • Help train and develop kitchen employees and reinforce expectations for performance, teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Communicate production, staffing, equipment, or operational concerns to the Culinary Director/Manager.
