The Cook Supervisor oversees food quality, presentation, and adherence to food safety standards for storage, preparation, and distribution, as well as the overall cleanliness of kitchen and related food service areas. This role ensures proper dishwashing, pot washing, and sanitation procedures are followed. The Cook Supervisor instructs kitchen staff on operating new equipment, supervises and participates in the preparation and service of special event meals and functions, and prepares various meal components including entrees, vegetables, starches, desserts, and special event/catered meals. They are responsible for the production of quality food, resolving customer complaints, and assisting in menu/recipe development. The position requires knowledge of food preparation techniques for modified diets and texture modification. The Cook Supervisor circulates in dining areas during meal periods and catering events to gather feedback, immediately attempts to correct problems, and communicates issues and resolutions to team members. They manage cash flow, identify and delegate tasks, and direct cooks and other staff in the absence of higher supervision. This role involves safely operating various kitchen equipment and working independently on meal preparation tasks according to production needs, procedures, and recipes. The Cook Supervisor also completes and records food temperature checks and tastes all prepared food items.
