About The Position

The Satellite Production and Utility employee is responsible for the efficient and proper operation of their assigned food service area. The work involves preparing nutritious and attractive meals daily in a friendly and timely manner, following central menu guidelines. This role also requires adherence to proper food handling procedures, maintaining records, placing supply orders, and upholding high standards of sanitation and safety. The employee will attend meetings to enhance knowledge and efficiency, interact positively with colleagues, administration, scholars, parents, and the community, and demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality. This position is part of the Food and Nutrition Bargaining Unit (Union of Grand Rapids Education Support Professional - UGRESP) and reports to the Supervisor of Food and Nutrition. The job is 7 hours per day.

Requirements

  • Current Accredited Kitchen Manager Certification or the ability to receive within 90 days of hire.
  • Adequate reading and mathematical abilities.
  • Consistently demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to accomplish required work with minimal supervision.
  • Capability to maintain accurate ordering and inventory records.
  • Ability to work in a professional/courteous manner with scholars and staff.
  • Ability to participate as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment.
  • Individuals with limited English skills are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Assure nutritious and attractive meals are prepared and served daily in a friendly and timely manner in accordance with the central menu prepared by Food & Nutrition Services.
  • Assure proper food handling procedures are being followed.
  • Maintain all records requested by the Food and Nutrition Services Office.
  • Place all food and non-food supply orders.
  • Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety in the food service area.
  • Attend meetings conducted by Food and Nutrition Services to increase knowledge and efficiency.
  • Interact with co-workers, administration, scholars, parents, and the community in positive, supportive, and cooperative ways.
  • Consistently demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
