The Cook - Prep is responsible for preparing all food items properly in accordance with printed orders and plating instructions, avoiding waste in preparation. This role involves portioning and preparing various food items such as salads, appetizers, soups, desserts, and deli items according to standard recipes. The position requires basic prep cooking skills including baking, frying, sautéing, and steaming. The Cook - Prep must follow prep lists and supervisor instructions, maintain quality and freshness of products, and ensure quality standards are met through visual inspection. Responsibilities also include setting up the pantry, distributing supplies, stocking and cleaning kitchen areas, maintaining a neat workstation, checking food temperatures, maintaining sanitation buckets, using protective gloves, and following all safety rules and regulations. The role requires effective communication, adherence to policies and procedures, compliance with recycling program standards, and the ability to observe Sugar Factory recipes and standards. The Cook - Prep must be able to sauté, broil, roast, steam cook, and make sauces, marinades, and dressings. This position is represented by Unite Here and is subject to the applicable collective bargaining agreement. The role requires availability to work weekends, holidays, and nights as scheduled.
