About The Position

We're looking for a kitchen-savvy team member with basic culinary knowledge and a passion for food prep. You’ll assist with cooking tasks, operate ovens, grills, and fryers, and handle tools like peelers and knives with confidence. A solid understanding of kitchen sanitation and equipment maintenance is a must. If you love working behind the scenes to help create delicious dishes, this could be the role for you!

Requirements

  • Basic kitchen knowledge.
  • Understanding of basic culinary terms.
  • Some mechanical skills.
  • Knowledge of the use of basic tools to include peelers, assorted knives, ovens, grills, and fryolators.
  • Understanding of basic sanitation skills and ability to sanitize and store kitchen equipment and utensils according to proper industry standards.
  • Working knowledge of necessary equipment and ability to alert managers or Chef on duty of any equipment failures or needed maintenance immediately.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and complete tasks with a “sense of urgency.”
  • Ability to perform duties in various climates and conditions due to equipment that uses water, steam, chemicals, and heat.
  • Ability to read, write, add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Working knowledge of safe power use and storage of foods for human consumption.
  • Strong ability to perform functions with minimum supervision and follow information on daily production schedules and checklists.
  • Physically able to repeatedly lift, bend, reach, stoop, climb, and carry items for extended amounts of time with reasonable accommodation.
  • Able to physically lift and move items up to 40 pounds.
  • Able to endure heat and moist conditions with reasonable accommodation.
  • Able to interact with internal and external guests with equal enthusiasm.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of one-year food service experience is desired.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with cooking tasks.
  • Operate ovens, grills, and fryers.
  • Handle tools like peelers and knives with confidence.
  • Maintain kitchen sanitation and equipment maintenance.
  • Perform entry-level kitchen duties including pantry and salad preparation.
  • Clean and prepare vegetables.
  • Prepare items as needed including broiling, sautéing, frying, boiling, steaming, baking, and grilling.
  • Ensure the cleanliness, sanitation, and proper presentation of food lines.
  • Take and record temperatures at required times to maintain health code requirements.
  • Follow procedures to ensure proper food and personal safety.
  • Ensure that all areas are kept up to corporate standards for public space viewing.
  • Maintain a positive and polite demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform other tasks deemed necessary by management.
