About The Position

Hard Rock Hotel San Diego is seeking a Cook II to join their culinary team. This role involves preparing and plating high-quality dishes for various outlets including banquets, rooftop events, bars, restaurants, and in-room dining. The Cook II will be responsible for executing recipes, maintaining presentation standards, leading station setup and cleanliness, supporting high-volume events, ensuring food safety, and assisting with training Cook I team members. The position requires a seasoned culinary professional with strong technique, excellent timing, and a passion for food, who can thrive under pressure and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team.

Requirements

2–3 years of professional cooking experience in a hotel, resort, or high-volume upscale environment
Strong culinary fundamentals — knife skills, timing, seasoning, and plating
Thrive under pressure and take genuine pride in your craft
Motivated, reliable, and energized by a fast-paced kitchen with multiple service demands
Enjoy being part of a collaborative, high-performing team
Flexible availability including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

Prepare, cook, and plate dishes with precision, consistency, and creativity
Execute recipes and presentation standards for à la carte, banquets, buffet, and room service
Lead station setup, organization, and cleanliness — keeping everything show-ready
Support service during high-volume events with confidence and efficiency
Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation at all times
Assist with training and guiding Cook I team members, leading by example
Collaborate with culinary leadership to maintain quality and timing across all outlets
