About The Position

We are seeking a Cook I who will be responsible for preparing and cooking all food items according to menus, expedite orders quickly and correctly as ordered, and ensuring junior members of team are performing duties to standards and specifications. Part of the Milwaukee-based Marcus Hotels & Resorts portfolio, HOTEL PASEO offers guests a distinctive desert retreat featuring 150 thoughtfully designed guest rooms and suites, many showcasing breathtaking views of the San Jacinto Mountains and palm-lined landscape. Guests can unwind by our resort-style pool and on-site spa, explore the area on complimentary bicycles, and enjoy inspired dining at Larkspur Grill, Lemon Drop Pool Bar or Café Paseo. Located along world-renowned El Paseo, our boutique hotel places guests steps from premier shopping, art galleries, acclaimed restaurants, and vibrant nightlife while serving as the perfect gateway to Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley. Requirements

  • Previous cooking experience required
  • Sufficient manual dexterity of hand in order to use all kitchen equipment, i.e., knives, spoons, spatulas, tongs, slicers, etc.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull weights up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, work in a confined space with high levels of noise and frequent interruptions, and perform duties within extreme temperature ranges.
  • Ability to obtain any local, state or federal license or certification for sanitation, liquor service, or food service certification.
  • Must be able to work a varied schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, holidays and the ability to work under pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • minimum of 3 years in a similar position preferred
  • Culinary or Apprenticeship program preferred.
  • High school diploma preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare station-specific food items according to recipes, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Monitor product storage, portion sizes, and special items like stocks and sauces.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all areas to meet Health Department regulations.
  • Ensure equipment is clean, sanitized, and operational.
  • Uphold high standards of food production and presentation.
  • Maintain personal hygiene and sanitation practices.
  • Manage station setup, breakdown, and prep work.
  • Follow recipe specifications for all food preparation.
