About The Position

The Cook prepares and serves quality meals for patients in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. The role involves preparing appetizing meals and snacks, following ordered diets and food-consistency requirements, and supporting a warm, positive environment for residents. The Cook works with an interdisciplinary team and maintains professional relationships, confidentiality, safety, and sanitation standards.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience preparing and cooking food in large quantities.
Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
Knowledge of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in a post-acute care facility.
Ability to perform proficiently in competency areas including patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
Ability to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience in food preparation preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve meals that are appetizing in taste and appearance and appropriate for each patient.
Follow ordered diets and food-consistency requirements.
Ensure food and supplies for the next meal are readily available.
Serve meals and snacks in a timely manner.
Use provided production tools and recipes to prepare meals and snacks.
Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude toward patients.
Assist in the evacuation of patients.
Maintain dependable, regular attendance.
Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.
Follow applicable laws, regulations, facility standards, department policies and procedures, and company compliance requirements.
Maintain patient rights, safety, sanitation, confidentiality, and professional working relationships.
