The Converting Engineer is responsible for supporting the finishing department by developing new machine technology and ensuring the efficient and safe operation of finishing equipment. This role will involve a combination of technical expertise, project management, and problem-solving skills. Participate in the development of new machine technology for finishing equipment, aligning with company goals and industry trends. Conduct thorough testing and validation of new designs to ensure they meet performance requirements and safety standards. Oversee the implementation of new machines and provide comprehensive training to operators. Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance plan for finishing equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime. Travel to offsite locations to inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot finishing equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operational standards. Identify and develop new vendors for machine components and services, aligning with company objectives. Demonstrate a deep understanding of winding and tension control in light gauge finished goods. Possess knowledge of drive set-up, single and multi-reel winding, speed and tension control, unwind and rewind systems, load cells and their calibration, center-driven winding, electrical troubleshooting, controls, and slitting applications.
