Convenience Store Team Member
About The Position
At Fleet Farm, providing the best customer service is the priority. The Convenience Store Team Member provides a sincere, courteous, and friendly customer experience. This role sells fuel and other store merchandise, processes point-of-sale transactions, and assists with overall Convenience Store operations. The position includes maintaining fuel facilities, following emergency and safety procedures, keeping the store and surrounding sidewalks clean and safe, stocking merchandise, and handling store opening, closing, and security. Team Members also answer customer questions and promote Fleet Farm loyalty, credit card, and other company initiatives.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of basic cash-handling procedures, including simple math.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a variety of temperatures, including cooler, freezer, and outdoor temperatures.
Responsibilities
- Provide customers with a quick, efficient, accurate checkout experience.
- Process monetary transactions, including cash, checks, gift cards, and credit or debit cards.
- Follow city, county, and state regulations and procedures for transactions involving tobacco products, lottery tickets, and alcohol.
- Follow safe food-handling requirements.
- Maintain fuel pumps, fuel islands, fuel operating consoles, and fuel tanker drops, and process related documentation.
- Follow emergency response protocols for spills and hazardous-material handling.
- Keep sidewalks properly maintained and clear of trip and slip hazards.
- Answer customer questions accurately about merchandise location, price, and use based on product specifications.
- Maintain adequate merchandise stock levels and restock as needed.
- Open and close the store and maintain overall facility security.
- Complete Convenience Store cleaning, including sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, and sanitizing food preparation areas.
- Set up displays according to Company directives.
- Promote the Fleet Farm customer loyalty program, credit card, and other company initiatives.
