About The Position

The Controls Technician is a field‑based role supporting the installation, checkout, and commissioning of industrial and building automation control systems. This position focuses on electrical controls installation, device verification, and hands‑on troubleshooting for BMS, EPMS, and SCADA‑related projects across active job sites. This role is ideal for technicians who enjoy working in the field, reading drawings, terminating panels, and seeing systems come to life during commissioning.

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of experience in: Industrial electrical work, Controls installation, Automation or BMS field work
  • Ability to follow electrical drawings and control schematics
  • Basic understanding of IP networking and device communications
  • Strong attention to labeling, documentation, and workmanship quality

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with BACnet and/or Modbus preferred

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and label control wiring in panels and at field devices
  • Perform point‑to-point checkout and assist with system commissioning
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, panel layouts, I/O schedules, and cut sheets
  • Calibrate and verify sensors, meters, and transducers
  • Use test equipment (multimeter, continuity testing, loop checks as required)
  • Verify BMS points, alarms, trends, schedules, and basic EPMS meter operation
  • Assist with basic SCADA tag verification and screen checks
  • Document work using redlines, punch lists, and as‑built markups
  • Work safely in electrical rooms, mechanical spaces, and occupied facilities
